No matter how disciplined or hardworking a student might be, there are always times when a person gets into a rut and can’t work up; the motivation is required to achieve good grades. Then there are the students who really need a lot of incentives to get going. For both these students, an effective solution might lie in sponsorship for students.

When well meaning adults sponsor a student , they are also helping in student goal setting to achieve the big in his academic career. Students need a whole lot of skills other than textbook knowledge in order to succeed in life, whether at school, college, university, or in the workplace and personal life. Some of these skills are time management, organization, self motivation, discipline, delayed gratification, etc. A very important skill to have is how to set study goals. When students are taught this, they can carry over the skill of goal setting to other areas of their lives, even when they start their careers. This is where incentive programs help.

Incentive programs are special programs that are completely online, where parents, relatives, family friends, etc., can reward a child for achieving the academic goals they have set. These goals are shared by the student online with anyone they wish or who they would like to have as a sponsor. They are able to share the milestones towards the achievement of these goals with their sponsors. When they succeed in achieving the goal, they get a financial reward from their sponsors. If they have been able to only partially achieve the goal, they can get a partial reward. If they completely fail in achieving the goal, they of course would not get any reward, but can use that as a stepping stone to greater motivation to achieve their future goals.

This kind of goal setting is virtually limitless. It helps to connect students with the people in their lives who care for them. By sharing their goals online with their sponsors, they have somebody who will hold them accountable for their work. Since the goals are made public to their sponsors, students are being more motivated to achieve them and not want to fail.

The prospect of receiving financial rewards for achieving their academic goals is enough to motivate most students (especially teenagers) to study well and study hard. Using the sponsorship money, they can do anything they wish, from buying new clothes to new gadgets to traveling to a foreign country. They can choose to spend all the money instantly or save it for a future wish. They can also choose to donate it to their favorite charity. When they know that their hard work is linked to such great rewards in the future, it is but natural that they will do their best to study more efficiently.
