In our Indian Railways train tickets will mostly be unavailable unless you book them well in advanced. People who have to travel at short phase Or in emergency may find it very difficult to travel by train. They will faced with no other option but hope for late cancellations or pleased with the Ticket Collector to find sit availability.

Now  our Indian railway come with a legal method for gaining seats for such emergency travelers. This system is called “TATKAL” means ‘immediate’. The tatkal itself is open only two days before train journey. The booking is open from 10 a.m. once you book your ticket you are under the tatkal scheme.

TATKAL TICKET BOOKING GUIDE ON IRCTC.CO.IN

  • Register as individual user on IRCTC.CO.IN.
  • Mobile number or Email id is mandatory for registration.
  • Login by entering your user name and password on home page of irctc.
  • Click on “plan my journey page”
  • On the form/to station selected by you are correct in the route of train the select the date of journey.
  • Select ticket type E-ticket.
  • Click on submit button.
  • Train list page become visible .
  • Select quota as TATKAL by click on
  • Find the train and click on the class in the train list it will show the details with availability.
  • To book ticket click on ‘ BOOK NOW ‘ link under availability option.

To complete the booking of ticket and generate the PNR status the following information is needed

  • Name of the Passenger or Passengers travelling together in a group.
  • Contact details such as mobile number , telephone number.
  • Age
  • Birth preference
  • Date of journey
  • Train number
  • Class of travel
  • Etc

PNR is the online documentation of the Indian railway reservation system.PNR is short name for ‘Passenger Name Record’ It is a record in the database of Indian Railways computer reservation system (IR-CRS) against which journey details for a passenger, or a group of passengers are saved. PNR number is generally printed at the top left corner of the printed tickets. Check PNR status and IRCTC PNR status enquiry information to passenger to check online train PNR status enquiry.

    Once you get PNR status, then you have to know whether the ticket is confirmed or not.There are different types of PNR status codes that you will get. The list of PNR status codes are shown below:

1         CNF / Confirmed : Confirmed

2         RAC : Reservation Against Cancellation

3         WL : Waiting List Number

4         GNWL : General Wait List

5         RLWL : Remote Location Wait List

6         PQWL : Pooled Quota Wait List

7         CAN / MOD : Cancelled or Modified Passenger

8         REGRET/WL : No More Booking Permitted

9         R# #RAC : Coach Number Berth Number

10     RELEASED Ticket : Not Cancelled but Alternative Accommodation Provided
